Already flying? Help someone on board.
Companions are fellow passengers on the same flight who offer a hand: finding the gate, managing bags, or simply being a friendly face. You set your price and receive 90% of what you agree.
Who companions are
Co-travelers, not staff
There is no application form and no hiring process. Anyone 18 or over who is taking a flight can list it in the app and offer to help.
A fellow passenger
You are already booked on the flight. Thedal does not hire, train or employ companions: you are a co-traveler offering a hand.
Helping on your terms
You choose who to connect with and agree the help and the price in chat before the flight. You can turn down anything you are not comfortable with.
Not a medical role
You are not expected to give medical or personal care. Travelers book wheelchairs and medical assistance with their airline.
List a trip
How to offer help on your flight
Everything happens in the Thedal app.
Step 1: Download the app and sign in
Sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. You must be 18 or older.
Step 2: Add the flight you are taking
Flight number, departure and arrival dates and times with the time zone, and the airports, connections included.
Step 3: Complete your listing
Add the languages you speak, a clear photo of yourself, and the compensation you ask for in USD.
Step 4: Connect with travelers on that flight
Travelers on exactly the same flight show up as matches. Send a request, or accept, decline or counter-offer theirs.
Step 5: Agree the plan in chat
Accepting confirms both trips and opens the chat. Agree where to meet and what help is needed.
Earnings
You keep 90% of the agreed price
You ask for an amount in USD, and travelers can accept it or counter-offer. Thedal keeps a 10% platform fee; the rest is yours.
Paid to your wallet
After a match is accepted, the traveler pays from their in-app wallet when they are ready, and your 90% lands in your Thedal wallet.
Withdraw to your bank
Set up payouts with Stripe Connect Express in the app, then withdraw your balance to your bank account.
Cancelling close to the flight
Cancelling an accepted match within 3 days of the flight carries a fee of 10% of the other person’s listed compensation. The same rule applies to travelers.
Expectations
Being a good companion
Travelers are often parents flying alone or first-time flyers. A little reliability goes a long way.
- Confirm the meeting point and time in chat, and be there when you said you would.
- Help with what you agreed. If something is beyond you, point the traveler to airline or airport staff.
- Medication help means reminders at the times you were given, nothing more.
- Never take charge of someone else's bags at check-in or security, and never carry anything you did not see packed.
- Keep personal details and photos you receive private, and keep conversations in the app.
- If your plans change, tell your match early. Cancelling within 3 days of the flight carries a fee.
- Report or block anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
